Obv. MAGISTER HULDRICUS ZVINGLI around bust of Ulrich Zwingli left in clerical peaked cap & gown, designer’s initials HIG (Hans Jacob Gessner) below left shoulder, 48 & 1531 in exergue (Zwingli’s age at the year of his death);
Rev. a 9-line Latin inscription which translates as ‘After Two Centuries Preserving the Pure Light of the Gospels, on the Ist of January 1719 Zurich Offered Public Prayers of Gratitude to Christ;’
The medal commemorates the 200th anniversary of Zwingli’s teaching in Zurich as one of the leaders of the Protestant Reformation;
