B&G Coins was originally founded in 1977 by Paul (Arne) Baker and Nicholas (Nick) George. Nick had been collecting coins since he was about 6 years of age and remembers ‘helping’ his aunty go through the days silver takings (she was landlady of the Fisheries Inn) checking for older coins of which if you were lucky, you could still find the odd Victorian coin in those days.

It was from coin collecting that Nick was to learn all of his dates in history, including those of the Kings and Queens. This helped him greatly with his History exams at school and further on for his PhD in Ancient and Medieval History.

Paul also had in interest in coinage and he latterly left B&G behind to pursue a very successful career as a senior manager with the NatWest Bank.

In the early days we exhibited at the National Motorcycle Museum Fair, The Cumberland Hotel at Marble Arch and the Strathmore Hotel at Luton.

It was at these Fairs that we learnt our trade and got to meet some numismatic legends like Alan Rayner (Peter Alan Rayner) from whom we learnt so much.

With the advent of the World Wide Web and the birth of eBay, B&G Coins has gone digital, with Nick himself joining eBay in 2001.

It is therefore now appropriate to bring our story right up to date with a full relaunch and new reskin of our ’40 years Commemorative Website’, we hope that you like it and welcome any comments or ways in which you think we could improve it for you.

With over 40 years of experience we believe, our five star TrustPilot rating and 100% customer service and satisfaction rating, speaks firmly for itself.
